Playing such a fragile and well-known figure as Maria Callas takes great care, huge skill and, no doubt, a little luck. The new production of Terrence McNally's Tony award-winning play Master Class sees Tyne Daly cast as the famously wilful, witty and, at times, belligerent soprano. Daly is best known to UK audiences from her Emmy-award winning turn as Mary Beth Lacey in the hit eighties New York cop staple, 'Cagney & Lacey'.

Master Class, which is inspired by Callas' own master classes of the early 70s, is both comedy and tragedy; an insight into the extraordinary life and many loves of this complex, legendary titan of modern opera.
