No longer Alone Again - Alyssa Reid plays The Game & announces 2012 UK Tour Dates
Due to promotional commitments, Alyssa Reid's UK tour has been postponed. New dates will be announced soon. Meanwhile, please keep hold of your tickets for the rescheduled shows.
Canadian youth talent competitions might not be the most-watched shows in the UK (mainly due to reception problems), but The Next Star is still regarded as a talent hot-bed in its own country and its own right. With no sign of Mr Cowell berating hopefuls for doing so much as breathe or smile, YTV's version of Britain's Got Talent is aimed at a Top 6 gaggle of 10 to 15 year old wannabees, whittled down from over 4000 applicants with the promise of a single released by each of them. The songs are gathered onto a compilation album, the most recent of which hit the top of the iTunes Chart and gave the various artists considerable media exposure.
One such beneficiary was young Alyssa Reid who was also a triumphant prodigy with a coveted Top 6 deal. But it was her debut-single 'Alone Again' that garnered the attentions of the public, both Canadian and British, racking up over 40 weeks on her homeland singles listings. Not bad for a then 17 year old. The trouble is, what do you do after reaching those giddy heights at such a young age? Why, you put together an entire album of bouncy pop and electro tunes and call it 'The Game'.
Released in Canada last summer, the debut album has performed modestly enough and, with a second single (the title track) under her belt, Reid is looking further afield for inspiration and sales. To this end, she's announced a 2012 UK tour for April. First stop is London on the 11th, followed by Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and more until concluding in Bristol on 19th April. Tickets for those first four shows went on sale this morning, with the remaining final trio hitting the servers at midday tomorrow (Saturday). Prices start at just £8 for regionals and a tenner for London's Borderline (a small venue which is bound to sell out fast).
Promotional commitments have meant that the 2012 UK tour has had to be postponed. New dates will be announced soon. Meanwhile, please keep hold of your tickets for the rescheduled shows.
