With tickets for this week's shows in (very) short supply, the much talked about Brooklyn indie funk-pop five-piece Friends have announced another set of UK days with a full headline tour scheduled for May.
Fronted by Samantha Urbani and named after a Beach Boys album (and not the celebrated NBC sitcom), Friends are a refreshing slice of sassy girl-fronted pop who have eschewed Brooklyn's well-trodden paths of electro and shoegaze, opting instead for some unabashed, fun-loving pop. Frankly, in the dark depths of a UK winter, it is exactly what we need.
Having supported Darwin Deez and re-released debut single 'Friend Crush' to great reviews and considerable radio play, Friends are bringing the sunshine to the UK in the late spring.
The May tour kicks off with a Live at Leeds 2012 date on Saturday 5th May, followed by shows in Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, two appearances at the Great Escape Festival 2012 in Brighton before Birmingham and, finally, Thekla in Bristol on 14th May 2012.
We will have tickets available for most dates when they go on sale at 9am on Friday 10th February, priced from around £10 (Manchester is available now, priced £9). The festivals are also on sale now.
At time of writing, we still have a smattering of premium tickets available for tomorrow night's Friends' gig at XOYO in Islington - but you'll need to be quick.
