Rock band Thin Lizzy are a band with more landmarks than the National Trust. For a start, they were way ahead of their time by being one of the first Irish rock or metal bands to achieve crossover success in the UK. Their frontman, the late Phil Lynott, was one of the first (and still one of the few) black rock stars to appear on TV screens and stages in the '70s (unusual for those tough times).

Switch on any classic rock radio show these days and you're very likely to hear one of their many huge hits, such as "Dancing in the Moonlight", "Whiskey in the Jar", "Waiting for an Alibi" and the ubiquitous "The Boys are Back in Town".

They also shied away from regularly singing about traditional heavy-metal subjects, such as blood, guts, birds, booze and glory, choosing literary influences and Irish folklore (with the occasional bit of raunch, for good measure).

And indeed they certainly are, back in town. Thin Lizzy have continued as a band, despite losing key luminaries Lynott and Gary Moore - they are now comprised of Gorman, Wharton and Downey (from the Lynott era), plus Richard Fortus (Alice Cooper's band), Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake) and recent vocalist, Ricky Warwick (The Almighty). Track for track, this is Thin Lizzy and some.
