Marina and the Diamonds announces intimate dates for 2012 - tickets available now/Friday 2nd December

Posted: 1st December 2011

Marina Lambrini Diamandis, better known as Marina and the Diamonds (shame she dropped the Lambrini), first began to shine in late 2009 when she placed second, to Ellie Goulding, in the BBC's Sound of 2010 poll.

From the town of Pandy in South Wales, the half-Greek Marina made a big impact in 2010 with her 'The Crown Jewels' EP and, subsequently, her debut album 'The Family Jewels'. The record turned Gold in the UK and Ireland, made the UK Top 5 and also hit No 2 on the US Heatseekers chart.

'The Family Jewels' produced her two biggest singles to date, 'Hollywood' and the heavily rotated 'I Am Not a Robot'. At risk of over exposure Marina has enjoyed a quite 12 months since her tour ended in late 2010 working on her follow-up LP.

The second album, 'Electra Heart', is due for release in February 2012. The first single for a year, 'Radioactive', was released in September reaching No 25 in the UK. 'Radioactive' signals a subtle move away from piano-led electro-pop toward a heavier dance sound (watch the video, above). The new material will get a full airing with Marina's first headline dates in more than a year in February.

Marina and the Diamonds' 2012 dates kick off at The Junction in Cambridge on 24th February, followed by Brighton the following night, before the third date, an NME Awards Show, at the Shepherds Bush Empire on Sunday 26th February 2012.

We have tickets available now for the Cambridge and London shows, priced £17.50 and £23.10 respectively, (London ticket price includes 60p donation to Teenage Cancer Trust).

We will have tickets for the Brighton gig when they go on sale at 9AM on Friday 2nd December, priced £20.

The tour follows last week's appearance at the Little Noise Sessions in Hackney, Marina's first gig for more than a year. Next up, she'll be supporting Coldplay at their MEN gig on Sunday 4th December. The gig is sold out but we have resale tickets available.
