This week's on-sales read like a who's who of rock and pop's biggest names. The Isle of Wight Festival 2012 featuring Bruce Springsteen, plus Coldplay, Paul Weller, Florence and the Machine, Noel Gallagher - the list is so impressive that you may have to be very patient when shopping for tickets on Friday, which could be made even busier by the new War of the Worlds and Dancing on Ice tours.

The Boss is set to perform four huge shows in 2012, including the Isle of Wight Festival 2012 (he headlines Sunday 24th June) which goes on sale Friday from 9am (£160-£190 for adult camping tickets). His other summer shows in Sunderland, Manchester and at London's Hard Rock Calling 2012, go on sale from 3rd December at 10am.
On Saturday 10th December at London's O2 Arena, Coldplay will headline Under 1 Roof, a show dedicated to raising much-needed funds for the children's charity, Kids Company. Steve Coogan will appear as Alan Partidge (aha!!), Tinie Tempah, Rob Brydon and Emeli Sandé have also been confirmed to appear, with tickets priced at £49.50.
To celebrate the release of his new album "Sonik Kicks" in the spring, Paul will be playing two special London album-launch shows at the iconic Roundhouse on 18th and 19th March. Baxter Dury will support and tickets will be priced from £38.50.
Two arena shows have been added to the existing February leg of the tour, Aberdeen on the 14th and Sheffield on the 19th, with new shows confirmed for Edinburgh Castle on 17th July and four shows in the autumn - Bournemouth (4th September), Liverpool (6th), Cardiff (9th) and Nottingham (10th). Prices range from £35 to £45.
The War of the Worlds - The New Generation
2012 will see "War of the Worlds" reappear with a new narrator (Liam Neeson), new cast, set and new technology. The UK tour starts next year in Dublin on 29th November, followed by Liverpool on 1st December and finishes in Brighton on the 16th, with two London dates included and more around the UK. Prices start at £42.50 (€49 for Ireland).
Next year's UK tour, with Torvill and Dean presenting, starts in Newcastle from 13th to 15th April, followed by Wembley Arena (just one date so far, the 17th), two dates in Manchester, three in Nottingham, three in Sheffield, three in Birmingham, two in Liverpool and four in Glasgow from 4th to 7th May with prices starting at around £32.50.
The UK leg of Simple Minds' 5X5 tour (playing 5 songs off each of their first 5 albums) kicks off in Birmingham on 24th February, followed by shows in Glasgow and, after a few days on the continent, in London on 2nd March, Manchester on 3rd March and finally Dublin on the 4th. Tickets will cost from £35/€39.
Next year promises to be busy with his debut-album poised for release in January and a UK tour with fellow Brit-soul and rap star, Ms Dynamite joining him on all dates. The first stop is Glasgow on 1st March, followed by Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff and the usual big cities until London's Roundhouse on the 10th. Prices range from £12.50 to £15.
This milestone American Pie 40th Anniversary tour kicks off on 19th October 2012 at Colston Hall in Bristol, before dates in Manchester, Gateshead, London and more until the final gig in Basingstoke on 31st October. Tickets are onsale from Saturday at 9am, priced £37.50 for London, £35 for Basingstoke and £33.50 for all other dates.
Other highlights on sale this week include tours for Inspiral Carpets, rockers Black Veil Brides, The Answer and Black Stone Cherry, Jonathan Richman, X-Factor's Rebecca Ferguson and Cher Lloyd, doo-woppers The Overtones and new starlet Charlene Soraia, as well as a Forestry Commssion show in Thetford Forest for The Darkness.
