Torvill and Dean return to present the Dancing On Ice 2012 UK tour - tickets on sale Friday 25th Nov

Pitching programmes that place TV celebrities in uncompromising situations, sounds like a dream job. "Boss, how about making them dance on telly?", "Done - here's your fee". "Boss, how about making them eat grubs and camel's feet in a jungle?", "Perfect - take the day off". "Boss, how about making them skate on ice?", "You're sacked - not even celebrities would do that for attention". Well, after six very successful series, that very idea has proven to be a Saturday night jewel-in-the-crown for ITV - and it's coming back for another season.

Olympic-winning skaters, Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean are the faces of Dancing On Ice and have appeared in every series, normally performing a routine and nurturing the celebrity contestants. With squeaky-clean Mr Reliable, Philip Schofield, manning the show with Holly Willoughby, it's been a winning formula. For 2012, his co-host will be Christine Bleakley and whilst the contestants haven't been revealed yet, you can be sure that January will be a challenge for the National Grid as millions tune in once again.

Last year's 'slebs' included Vanilla Ice (no, really - he reached the sixth round as well), Kerry Katona, Nadia Sawalha and the winner, ex-'Stenders actor Sam Attwater with partner, Brianne Delcourt. The same pairing also won the sister-competition - the Torvill and Dean - Dancing On Ice 2011 tour, the 2012 version of which has just been announced.

Next year's UK tour starts in Newcastle from 13th to 15th April, followed by Wembley Arena (just one date so far, the 17th), two dates in Manchester, three in Nottingham, three in Sheffield, three in Birmingham, two in Liverpool and four in Glasgow from 4th to 7th May. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday. There are also matinee options for some of the dates with shows starting at 1.30 or 2.30pm - in a few cases, there is no evening show, such as Glasgow on 7th May (matinee only). Check the timings on the ticket link, before ordering! Prices start at around £32.50

Torvill and Dean are confirmed as presenters for the tour and will be introducing the contestants and conferring with the judges about the performances, as well as putting on their skates and wowing audiences with a glimpse of their skating magic!
