Get your Sonik Kicks with Paul Weller's 2012 Roundhouse album-launch shows

Paul Weller

He may well still be known as The Modfather, but take one listen to Paul Weller's new single "Around the Lake", and you'd be fully expecting to see him donning a paisley shirt and rainbow trousers, armed with a Rickenbacker and a box of jazz cigarettes. In short, it's a short and sweet slice of psychedelic rock that may or may not divide his legion of fans.

But that's the beauty of Weller - he doesn't wallow in a trench or get stuck in a rut, even when he either cranks up the amp or croons through a ballad. But it's all a far cry from his relatively humble beginnings as a snotty teenager from Sheerwater in Woking and the heady days of The Jam, one of the great rock trios of all time, no question.

After soundtracking many people's lives with classic angsty anthems like "Going Underground" and "In The City", Weller's activities since the chart-topping band split have divided followers. The Style Council? Moving swiftly on... Weller's last solo album, "Wake Up the Nation" appeared in 2010, which means his habit of a new project every 24 months or so is right on cue - another album has been promised for 2012.

Called "Sonik Kicks", this will be the songwriter's 11th studio set and from the strength of the first aforementioned single, sounds like he's wired up for an electric collection, which will feature collaborations with Noel Gallagher and Graham Coxon. To celebrate its release on 26th March, Paul will be playing two special London album-launch shows at the iconic Roundhouse, giving you the chance to hear his new material (possibly prior to further tour dates?).

The concerts take place on 18th and 19th March, with Baxter Dury as support and we will have tickets on sale from 9am on Friday 25th November, priced at £38.50.

Meanwhile, you can also catch Paul Weller performing live at the Stand Up and Rock For Crisis at the Hammersmith Apollo on 20th December - He will be joined by Tim Minchin, Graham Coxon, Jo Brand and more with tickets still available priced from £39.50.

Update: 3rd date added!

As well as Sunday 18th and Monday 19th March, Paul will now also play the Roundhouse on Tuesday 20th March. Tickets go on sale at 9AM on Friday.

UPDATE: Face value tickets for the Sunday and Monday gigs have now sold out.
