The Maccabees will be Given to the Wild with new album and 2012 tour dates

Posted: 12 years ago

When Steve Lamacq says he likes a band, rest assured that attentions will veer towards his objects of desire - and fair enough. The man's experience and passion for music is obvious to see (and hear) and in the case of these guys, seemingly justified. The Maccabees from Brighton have frequently featured on the DJ's radio shows since the release of the first single, "X-Ray", in 2005.

But the band have been more than capable of holding their own since then - their debut album, "Colour It In", became a Top 30 success, bettered by the sophomore "Wall of Arms". Even Roots Manuva gave the band his time on the track "No Kind Words". So what can you expect from the band's much-anticipated 3rd album?

"Given to the Wild" will feature a dozen tracks recorded with Tim Goldsworthy, a name synonymous with LCD Soundsystem spotters. A visit to The Maccabees' website is currently streaming an ident for the album with a soundtrack that sounds distinctly atmospheric and very grown up. The album will be released on 13th January, a couple of weeks prior to their next tour.

Currently the opening show is in Glasgow on 23rd January, followed by Newcastle (24th), Brixton (26th), Birmingham (27th) and Manchester (28th). More dates may get added but meanwhile, we will have tickets for these dates on Friday, priced at £15 (£17.50 for London).

As well as their tour, you can catch the band at this year's XFM Winter Wonderland show in Brixton on 14th December - tickets still available!
