Steps announce 2012 UK arena reunion tour - pre-sale tickets and album package available now

Posted: 12 years ago

What goes around, comes around - how true. At every given opportunity, an anniversary, birthday or reunion tour often reminds us of how great a past artist has been (or how much of a has-been, a past artist was and is). During the past five years or so, we've been bombarded with acts from the '70s and '80s playing entire classic albums in original track order (while their newest release flounders at number 267 with lower sales than holiday homes in Tripoli).

Eventually, every act from the '90s will be reliving their career in some form or another, which means we have five-night residencies at the O2 Arena from Toploader, Dodgy, Limp Bizkit to look forward to. It's OK - tickets aren't on sale yet - we'll let you know.

What we can tell you is that Steps, the squeaky-clean Abba-likes of the late '90s, are back with a bouncy abundance, buoyed by the recent commission of the Sky Living (who else?) docu-vehicle, "Steps: The Reunion" and armed with more pop than an artic full of Pepsi. There's a compilation on the horizon as well, shamelessly entitled, "The Ultimate Collection", which features a 'bonus' track, a cover of "Dancing Queen", as well as those massive hits you created your own dance-moves to in front of the bedroom-mirror (or, as I once witnessed on platform 5 at Wimbledon's railway station, step-perfect routines by schoolgirls blaring out "Tragedy". It was like Strictly Carnage).

Not surprisingly, the original members of Steps have reformed and confirmed a full UK arena tour for 2012, giving you the chance to relive the moments you first heard "5,6,7,8", "Love's Got Hold On My Heart", "One For Sorrow", "Stomp", "Chain Reaction" and the ubiquitous smash-hit "Tragedy". The tour kicks off in Liverpool on 4th April, followed by Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle and many more until, yes you've guessed correctly, the O2 Arena the 19th.

Prices start at £35 (£40 for London) and we will have tickets from Friday morning. If you cannot wait until then, you can order "The Ultimate Collection" for £7.99 right now and gain access to an exclusive Steps The Reunion Tour pre-sale from midday today (Monday), days ahead of everyone else! Just click the Steps Pre-sale button for details!

Whichever option you choose, don't underestimate demand for tickets - Steps shifted millions of CDs, during their initial five year history.
