Of all the intense US hardcore bands we've written about, Massachusetts' The Acacia Strain must rank as one of the most explosive and downright brain-pummelling outfits I've heard since Slayer. In fact, these boys covered one of their songs, the classic "Seasons in the Abyss", for a split album some years back. Listen to recent single, "The Impaler", and you can see what I mean - they don't mess about. Just don't call them 'deathcore' - according to their Wikipedia page, lead-singer Vincent Bennett gets a bit testy at the very suggestion.
Whatever, in ten years they've seen fit to record five albums, all featuring delightful song-titles such as "Cable Ready Techno Slut", "Smoke Ya Later", "Angry Mob Justice" and "Bay of Pigs", the latter of which is from their most recent set, "Wormwood". Also featuring "The Impaler" (which you can watch and snap your neck to by clicking on the video above), the 12-track album was described by The New Review site as "a coffin full of hatred and malice for mankind ". That's that sorted out, then.
Naturally, The Acacia Strain make for a must-see live experience and the band will be touring the UK next year, starting with Bristol on 6th March, followed by Yeovil, Cardiff, Nottingham and many more until Camden's Underworld on 17th. Tickets for all shows cost £10, with Aberdeen and Milton Keynes available to buy now - the rest are on sale Friday at 9am.
