Ever since its launch in 2002, the CBeebies TV channel, or 'the third parent', has steadily grown in influence and popularity. Available on Freeview and all other digital platforms, including online, the stars of CBeebies are regular visitors to homes up and down the land.
And, with the BBC guarantee of quality, it has made stars of some of its principal players. 'In the Night Garden', 'Waybuloo', 'Grandpa In My Pocket' and 'Charlie and Lola' have all become giants of the under-seven scene and heavyweight movers and shakers in the merchandise market [Stewart, you are watching way too much childrens' TV! - Ed].
If you want to see a toddler freak out, just tell them they are going to meet Mr Tumble, erstwhile star of 'Something Special', or the green-fingered Mr Bloom. And, if you can't set up an actual meeting, then the next best thing, surely, is to see the stars of CBeebies in the flesh at a live show.
Thoughtfully, the BBC has announced a CBeebies Live! tour for early next year. Many of the channel's favourite characters and most popular presenters will be singing and dancing, playing games and bringing all the colour and fun of CBeebies to life with the Reach To The Stars tour.
Justin Fletcher (aka Mr Tumble) and Katy Ashworth will be among the familiar faces helping LazyTown's Stephanie and Sportacus, Mr Tumble, Postman Pat (and Jess), Squiglet, Zingzillas and others save the day from the devilish Robbie Rotten.
The tour kicks off at Wembley Arena on 31st March 2012, followed by the Newcastle Metro Arena on 7th April and then onto the MEN Arena (8th April) before the final two dates at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena on 10th and 11th April 2012.
We will have tickets for all dates when they go on sale on Friday 7th October 2011, priced from £15.
