Brand New 2012 UK tour dates - on sale Friday 16th September

Posted: 12 years ago

Like a lot of new things, the band Brand New are looking (and sounding) a little better with age, with a bit of wear and tear. A decade or so after forming, the rock five-piece from Long Island, New York, appear to be fulfilling their potential.

The band's fourth studio album, 2009's 'Daisy', continued the steady progression shown by the previous release, 2006's 'The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me'. Hitting No 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart, breaking the Australian top 40 and hitting No 46 in the UK, 'Daisy' has been by far Brand New's biggest success.

Even if mainstream success eluded Brand New in the early years, their critical breakthrough was not so long coming. While the band had been touring debut 'Your Favourite Weapon' they were already working on their sophomore record, the acclaimed 'Deja Entendu' (2003).

The album sold more than 500,000 copies in the US, turning Gold, and showcased the music of a maturing band exposing itself to wider influences while spending long periods of intense focus on writing and recording the material.

Into 2011 and Brand New are working on new songs, although there has not yet been confirmation of a release date for a fifth album. But, with UK dates set for early next year, there's a good chance that one or two of the new tracks will get an airing. Frontman Jesse Lacey says Brand New are "trying to write something happy", evidently a bit of a struggle.

Brand New's 2012 UK tour kicks off at the Bristol Academy on Wednesday 8th February, followed by gigs in Manchester, Southampton, London (Roundhouse), Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle before the final date of the run at Cardiff University on Friday 17th February 2012.

We will have tickets for all dates when they go on sale at 9AM on Friday 16th September, priced £22.50 for the Roundhouse gig and £20 for all other venues.

Second Roundhouse date added!

With tickets for the first Roundhouse gig (11th February) not being enough to satisfy demand, a second date has now been added for the following night. Tickets for the new date are on sale now at £22.50.
