Five copies of the new Chris Rea CD/DVD box-set, 'Santo Spirito' up for grabs!

Posted: 12 years ago

Chris Rea has previously brought us the huge-selling albums "Road To Hell", "Auberge" and "The Blue Guitars", plus one of the few decent festive tunes around, "Drivin' Home For Christmas". His tour last year pretty much sold-out around the UK and more shows are on sale for 2012, from Belfast (16th March) to Hammersmith (5th April), priced at £33.50 (£35 for London).

One of Britain's leading singer-songwriters, he will soon be releasing his first new material for a few years. But just to prove that the affable 'Boro guitarist and gravelly-tonsilled icon hasn't been resting on his laurels, "Santo Spirito" will be a lavish 3CD and 2DVD box-set featuring a completely new album and a pair of bespoke feature films with the accompanying music included.

The album is released on 5th September, and is available for pre-order on Amazon right now for just £12.99 with free UK delivery (click here to buy).

As Chris succinctly puts it:

I cannot be bothered just making a CD any more. It has got to be something more interesting for me than just 10 tracks on CD. The luxury of selling over 30 million albums has allowed me to try new and different approaches to music. I would be damning myself to hell if I just took the money and ran.

One day a younger artist may look at what I have been trying to do, marrying my love of the visual arts and music and start a whole new movement. Then, I will know it was all worthwhile.

There should be no (artistic) rules whatsoever and, for God's sake, there are alternatives to TV talent shows. Sometimes, those who have had extremely good fortune in music, allow only X Factor type TV shows etc. to set the musical and cultural agenda of this county by actually doing nothing new or different themselves.

We really couldn't agree more and to celebrate the next chapter in Chris Rea's career, Allgigs have five copies of the "Santo Spirito" CD/DVD set to give away!
