OK, hands up who has not heard of Doris Day? Fine, just a few of you…

Next question: hands up who has heard of Doris Day via their parents or grandparents? Splendid, a few nods amongst you.

Finally then, who thought Doris Day had finished with making albums a few decades back? Yep, me too - but we're all wrong by a mile because Doris Day, at the tender age of 87, has recently announced the release of her first new album for 17 years.

1994's "The Love Album" was her last studio album, but even that was a selection of recordings made in 1967! Therefore, news of new material recorded fairly recently might come as a surprise to many, probably even Doris herself. Having made a career out of appearing in wholesome light-hearted comedies such as "Move Over, Darling", "Pillow Talk" and "Send Me No Flowers" during the early '60s, she also became a household name for her distinctive voice on hits such as the title-track to "Move Over, Darling", "Bewitched" and "Secret Love".

2011 sees the return of the iconic American singer, actress and animal-welfare campaigner with the album "My Heart", a collection of unreleased recordings produced by her late son, Terry Melcher, who also performs on the album. The album is due for release on 5th September with a single, "Heaven Tonight", due out beforehand. Other songs on "My Heart" include a cover of Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" and several selections from musicals and films. You'll be pleased to know that she hasn't teamed-up with Tinie Tempah or Dappy in order to 'get modern' - it's classic Doris Day all the way - and she's in fine voice and fettle having chosen the songs herself.

We have five copies of the "My Heart" CD up for grabs, so read on for details!!
