NME Radar Tour 2011 emerges for the autumn with Wolf Gang and S.C.U.M in the line-up
Every few months, the ever-beeping and searching radar at NME Towers stealthily picks up on a few upcoming artists, calls them up, gives them a proverbial critical tickle under the chin and installs them on a tour-bus for a trip around the country, armed with the promise of fame and glory. Sounds far-fetched? Ask The Joy Formidable, Everything Everything and Anna Calvi whether doing such a tour works or not!
NME still has some clout and to prove it, they've earmarked another string of similarly-titled promotional dates, smartly branded as Emerge NME Radar Tour. Their big chosen band this time isn't really a band, as such - it's Wolf Gang, who is actually Max McElligott with chums.
He issued his much-touted debut album, "Suego Faults", last week but according to NME, already has a second batch of tunes in the pipeline! Either way, the album sneaked into the bottom end of the Top 100 this week, pointing the way for further sales and much acclaim.
Joining him on the 14-date UK tour, will be the art-rock outfit, S.C.U.M, with Aussie duo DZ Deathrays on the tour until 12th October and flamboyant Swedish performer Niki and the Dove taking over from 13th to 16th October. The tour is all set to start in Exeter on 2nd October, followed by Bristol, Portsmouth, Nottingham and several until the closing trio of Stoke, Brighton and London on the 18th.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday, priced from £9 upwards (£11 for the London KOKO date).
