Theatre critics haven't held back with their collective synopsis about the successful musical, Fela!. Superlatives and acclaim have been levelled at the Tony-winning choreography, the songs and the acting - The Guardian declared that "The dancing is ecstatic, the music lifts the spirits, and the stage is alive with movement", while the Metro stated that it was "Fantastic. A fitting tribute to a man who made heads spin the world over". It's got to be worth seeing, right?

The show celebrates the life and times of the African funk-jazz composer, musician and, ultimately, civil-rights campaigner Fela Kuti, who lit the touch-paper for an entire generation of Nigerians and pretty much the whole of Africa, not just with his lively music but also his colourful and occasionally controversial campaigning. His exuberance has been perfectly translated into a stunning musical written by Bill T.Jones and Jim Lewis and is playing for a short season at Sadler's Wells.
