No need for the weekend for a glimpse of The Saturdays - huge December 2011 arena tour confirmed
Posted: 13th June 2011
You can sort of see why The Saturdays are christened with that moniker - for those of us not in retail anymore, it means a day-off, a fountain of coffee, newspapers, Saturday Kitchen (oh how middle-class am I?), sport, music for getting ready to go out to, necking barrels of JD and coke, raving 'til 5 in the morning and then falling through someone's hedge on the way home. Marvellous - that's what The Saturdays are all about, thus you can see why the foxy quintet gave it the nod - they probably do exactly the same every weekend.
They'd better make the most of it because their popularity is starting to edge closer to epic proportions, what with over 2 million sales and 35 million You Tube hits (one wonders how many were accidental).
The girls have a third album all lined up for later this year - as yet untitled, it will include recent #8 smash, "Notorious", a song that they've recently been quoted as saying, "We still have our pop edge, but this time around we've taken things a bit more dancey."
They might not be Elton John's favourite musical proposition at the moment ("crap"), but pop-fans are pop-fans and they've got a lot of them, many of whom will be champing at the bit for their new arena tour, set to take place in late autumn. Called the "All Fired Up" tour, the shows with a strong emphasis on 'partying' will call at Bournemouth on 2nd December, followed by Liverpool (3rd), Cardiff (5th) and other big cities until they arrive back in London on the 16th. Tickets go on sale from 17th June, priced from around £26.50.
