Here is yet another big reunion, as Big Audio Dynamite have announced their resurrection after closing business for almost fifteen years!
The funk-rock-hip hop collective formed by Mick Jones back in 1984, shortly after his departure from The Clash had disbanded in 1997, recording no less than nine albums (including the indispensable 'This is Big Audio Dynamite' and 'No.10, Upping St').
But last summer, original member, Don Letts (who served as the band's sampling master from 1984 to 1990) hinted at a reunion, which you will be pleased to hear will materialise, in the shape of an eight-date UK tour kicking off on 29th March through to 9th April. So Letts and Jones and their pals will test whether such items 'E=MC2', 'Medicine Show', 'Rush' and 'The bottom Line' still make for Big Audio Dynamite as it stands, visiting the cities of Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle, London (with two shows at Shepherd's Bush Empire on 2nd and 3rd April), Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol.
If you find yourself at the right time and place, make sure you go try the gear: tickets go on sale on Friday 28th January at 9am and will cost £27.50 regionally, one pound more for London shows.
