Calm Down and Get Savy - Les Savy Fav announce 2011 UK tour
Posted: 2nd December 2010
Having borne the brunt of almost worship-status in NME during the early part of this century, you could be forgiven for scratching your head when confronted by Les Savy Fav, the Brooklyn art-rock band fronted by the Best Beard in Rock, alias Tim Harrington (and that ain't no 'Movember' thing going on either). But having listened to a fair array of their tunes, I can nod in agreement with the weekly music mag - they're pretty good, if a little bit like Television, Pixies and Foals (circa 'Antidotes').
Les Savy Fav have recently added to their large catalogue by releasing a new album entitled "Root For Ruin", which contains the cracking single "Let's Get Out of Here", the type of tune that will go down a storm at one of their notorious gigs.
Talking of which, the band has announced a UK tour for early next year, starting in London at the NME Awards Show gig at Heaven on 22nd February, followed by seven more regional nights in Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Aberdeen and finally Newcastle on the 2nd March. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am, although the opening Heaven night is on sale now at £15.60.
Meanwhile, have a look at the skateboarding joy on the aforementioned single's video right here.
