The UK festival organizers are really starting to set the ball in motion for 2011 - this week, Rockness 2011 announced the Chemical Brothers and Kasabian, Bestival 2011 with The Cure and Primal Scream and finally, Reading/Leeds with Britney Spears and JLS. OK, OK just kidding with the last one - they haven't announced anything (yet), apart from tickets going on sale Friday!
We certainly aren't kidding about THIS news though - Foo Fighters are the first confirmed act for T in the Park 2011! Of course, not just any old act but a headline act at some point across the weekend, which will run from 8th to 10th July [or 7th to 10th if you buy Thursday - Sunday tickets - Ed] . Tickets for the entire festival will go on sale from Friday at 9am, with prices being frozen (yeah, bad pun) at 2010 prices and buying now means that Mr VATman doesn't get any reward from Early Bird sales.
This will be the 18th T in the Park weekend and something that Foos frontman Dave Grohl seems very excited, according to a recent interview - "I want to play the (new) album at night live in front of (tens of thousands of) people. It's a festival album because it f**king rocks!" - well, quite Dave.
Their 7th studio album should be hitting the racks/servers sometime in early 2011, rumoured to be a full-on seriously heavy album, no doubt buoyed by the recent Them Crooked Vultures side-project (that'll be volume 2 diverted to at least 2012, I would have thought). Pat Smear is also back on riffs and chops - yeah!
Now - I think it's time to shudder that snow from my window-sill with a spot of "All My Life".
