Monarchs of the glen - RockNess 2011 announces Kasabian and Chemical Brothers as headliners

The festival season for next year is starting to gather momentum and even more so with this announcement. The acclaimed RockNess Festival, which takes place near Loch Ness (at the Inverness end in the village of Dores) on 10th-12th June 2011, looks set to surpass this year's line-up of Leftfield and The Strokes (which earned it the Line Up Of The Year Award at the UK Festival Awards 2010).

Kasabian and Chemical Brothers are both a pretty good place to start, with the latter making their first appearance in Scotland since 2008 and both will headline the three-day bash. The Leicester-based Kasabian were voted the 2010 Best Act in the World by Q Magazine and tore up V Festival during the summer, while the Chems were given a 2010 Hero Award by the same monthly and have played RockNess before, of course. Both have recently released acclaimed albums and both are sure to pack the misty shores of this most amazing part of the world. It's going to be a monster!

Environmentally-friendly tickets for RockNess 2011 go on sale from Friday 26th November, with special 'Go Green' options up for grabs for £149 (3-day camping/non-camping) or £159 (3-day camping/non-camping plus coach travel from major UK cities). Early-birds have now sold-out!

Update: Paolo Nutini to close Rockness 2011!

Scottish singer/ songwriter Paolo Nutini is set to close the 2011 festival, headlining Sunday night's proceedings.
