Happy Ollydays - X-Factor's Olly Murs announces extensive UK album tour for spring 2011

Olly Murs

Never underestimate the power of a talent-show on the telly, even when you're a runner-up and losing out to Joe McElderry. That fate beset Olly Murs, yet he's already gathered a fair welter of production and musician experience with his self-titled debut album, due out next Monday. Trevor Horn, Phil Thornally, Eg White, Chris Difford (yes, THAT Chris Difford from Squeeze) and John Shanks may not be hugely familiar to his new audience, but that is a proven line-up, trust me (Mr Shanks has previously produced and co-written with Bon Jovi, Westlife and Take That, for example).

Every new album needs promoting so, aside from the obligatory appearance on Titchmarsh and the One Show, Murs will also be stepping out with a full show next year, starting with Margate on 29th April (this night is on sale now, priced at £26.50 plus fees), followed by a further nineteen nights from Ipswich (30th) all the way to Hammersmith (24th May), then across the Irish sea to Dublin and Belfast on 2nd and 3rd June - all of which go on sale this Friday at 9am.

To keep the momentum going until then, a new single has just been issued - "Thinking of Me" is now out on download and if you were watching the X-Factor show last night, you may well have stumbled across his live rendition.
