Having made her name in indie and alternative music-fan circles with the excellent Throwing Muses (one of the best bands I ever saw at Glasto - 1989 I think it was), Kristin Hersh's solo career has been comparatively muted, despite releasing a bang-on debut in "Hips and Makers" some 16 years ago. 4AD continued to issue her entire catalogue, right up until her departure earlier this year and the resultant album, "Crooked" (issued on her own Throwing Music label). In what is perceived to be a 'first', Hersh has also issued the album as a book complete with loads of extras, as well as a download code for the album.
It's been a wee while since Hersh played a solo date in London, precisely what she is planning for next year. The Bloomsbury Theatre will host a gig on 24th January - tickets cost £17.50 plus fees and went on sale this morning.
Expect an intimate set of acoustic vignettes from across her catalogue, even a few Muses songs no doubt - but probably no hardcore versions of the more frenetic 50 Foot Wave, her other project.
