Carry on in the great outdoors - Kings of Leon announce summer 2011 open-air UK concerts

The Followill boys are back in town, or will be next summer. Having chalked up a hat-trick of number one albums with "Because of the Times", "Only by the Night" and now "Carry on Sundown", it hardly seems surprising that Kings of Leon have outgrown traditional music-venues, hence announcing a UK tour with an open-air theme (this looks like a growing trend - Bon Jovi and Elton John are playing the same or similar venues next year as well).

The confirmed dates so far begin with Coventry's Ricoh Arena on 30th May, followed by Sunderland's Stadium of Light on 17th June, the Lancashire County Cricket Ground on the 19th, a return to Hyde Park on 22nd and finally (for the moment at least) Edinburgh on the 26th. Tickets (£49.50 for Hyde Park others TBC) will go on sale next week on Wednesday 3rd November at 9am.

The fact that their pretty much sold-out Winter tour is being tagged as 'intimate' gives you an idea of just how huge the brothers have become. It's like U2 all over again. As a reminder, there are a few limited trusted re-sales still around for the December dates.
