Reg Dwight certainly seems to love his sporting connections - Watford and regular sports-ground tours have formed part of his well-documented history and it appears as though the latter could be doing the same in 2011.

Elton John has announced a few provisional dates for a UK tour next year and all are either football or cricket stadiums, beginning with Shrewsbury F.C. on 12th June, followed by Northants County Cricket Ground on 25th June and Hove's Sussex County Cricket Ground on the following day. Tickets go on sale this Thursday at 9am, starting at £35. More dates could well be announced in the coming weeks - there's a big gap between Shrewsbury and Northampton!

There are likely to be special guests at each performance, not least Elton's recent collaborator Leon Russell. The acclaimed songwriters have been busy beavering away creating the new album "The Union", released this week. The album will be performed at his sold-out Electric Proms concert on Thursday night, but if you can't make that Roundhouse gig (or you missed out on tickets), you can tune into BBC Radio 2 for a simultaneous broadcast. The performance will also be televised a couple of days later on Saturday 30th on BBC2 at 10.45pm.
