All you need is... the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra 50th anniversary tribute to The Beatles
Posted: 6th October 2010
50 years after the formation of The Beatles, you might expect a bit of activity here and there ranging from conventions to tribute gigs in pubs up and down the country. Here is something a little different in honour of the Fab Four and in aid of a few worthy charities to boot.
The Royal Albert Hall will host "The Beatles Philharmonic Tribute - 50th Anniversary Concert" on 28th October, an evening which will celebrate some of the finest rock n roll in musical history, interpreted in classical-style by a full orchestra with some very special guests. Imagine sweeping symphonic versions of "All You Need is Love", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and many more Beatles favourites.
Dame Shirley Bassey, Tony Christie, Beverley Knight and Lenny Zakatek (ex-Alan Parsons Project) will feature as special guests throughout the evening, alongside Darius Campbell and many soloists. Ex-Radio 1 and well-known sixties DJ and aficionado Mike Read will be your compere for the evening, which is being held to raise money for three key charities including the Nordoff Robbins (www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk), Malta Community Chest (www.maltacommunitychestfund.org) and Noah's Ark Appeal (www.noahs-ark-appeal.org) projects.
Tickets are available now, priced from £30 to £60 depending on your choice of seat.
