Katy B

For the past 12 months one young lady has been charming the proverbial birds and bees out of the trees with her vocal-work on numerous You Tube hits, including the house-slammer "As I" and the upcoming dubstep single "On A Mission", released this coming Monday. If you haven't heard this rather cheeky little crowd-pleaser, click on the video and wonder at its slinky bassline and "woo-woo-ooo" hook-line - it'll be all over the place like a rash within weeks I reckon.

The lady is question is Katy B and she has recently signed with the groundbreaking grime-step label, Rinse. "On a Mission" was produced by a respected producer who himself had a near-crossover hit in 2008 with the bleepy and sleepy "Night" (with Coki). Other producers who have used her talents include Geeneus with the bouncy Reese / Saunderson-flavoured "As I", Count and Sinden (album tracks) and "Louder" with Zinc (just released on video via Rinse).

As the buzz begins to increase, you can bet your balls to a barndance you won't be able to get in to her gigs, so you'd best be quick with the two she's lined up in September. The first is on 10th September at Fabric and is part of RinseFM's 16th birthday party - and what a party. Just look at the line-up - as well as Katy, Skream, Heartless Crew, Shy FX, Zinc, Joker and Benga form just half of the total list. It's a Fabric take-over and the club-night in control is FWD>> .

Katy B will then play a headline set at Hoxton Hall on 16th September with tickets going on sale this Friday at 9am for £10. Trust me, these tickets will fly out.
