Making a song and dance - Caroline O'Connor announces week-long West End autumn 2010 residency
Posted: 2nd August 2010
Her name may not be instantly familiar but, in the space of nearly two decades, has trained at London's Royal Ballet, appeared in an Oscar-winning musical and performed around the world in various productions including "West Side Story", "Chicago" and "On The Town". In short, there isn't much in the world of musicals Caroline O'Connor can't do or hasn't done already - apart from perform a one-woman show, that is. Until now.
London's Garrick Theatre is her latest stop, to add to Sydney, Melbourne and last week's Royal Albert Hall celebrations for Stephen Sondheim's 80th-birthday bash at the Proms. O'Connor will present her brand-new debut musical show, entitled "The Showgirl Within", for a week-long residency in September, beginning on 27th September and ending on 3rd October. Tickets are on sale now with prices starting at £25 and rising to £39.50 for dress circle and stalls. The show will feature several theatre, musical and show-stopping anthems that have become familiar signature tunes throughout her career - a sort-of 'greatest hits'.
The show will also feature a troupe of dancers and her own band, led by Daniel Edmonds.
