Two of the biggest names in electro-pop and club music are to link up for a quartet of dates in November. Despite chucking the proverbial album-towel in, James Murphy aka LCD Soundsystem will team up with British Mercury-nominees Hot Chip for four evenings of wonderful amp-blowing grooves, though after apparently melting down the electrics at a few festivals in the past, I may have to re-choose my words carefully - oh yeah, the Mercury thing meant 2006's nomination for "The Warning", not for 2010's far better "One Life Stand" (which is surely punishable by death. Or Peter Andre).
Awards aside, Hot Chip have been a worthy live bet for some time and this short tour is going to be in high demand - it kicks off in November at Alexandra Palace, London on the 10th, Cardiff on the 12th, Sheffield/Rotherham on the 13th and Manchester on the 15th with tickets going on sale at 9am this coming Friday.
This is likely to be Hot Chip's last batch of UK headline dates this year, but they have a few European fests to continue playing including the Electric Picnic in Ireland and Bestival. LCD Soundsystem have unfinished business in the next few days - overseas including the "Splendour in the Grass" shindig in Oz. Nice.
