Now that's not me calling chirpy, yet testy, comedian Jenny Eclair an old dog - she has announced her new tour with the self-effacing title "Old Dog, New Tricks". Honest, it says so on her website, in fact I say 'tour', this list of dates appears longer than Lady GaGa's shopping-list for new outfits - there are nearly 50 of them! That's commitment for you (or just plain and simple madness), so the least you could do is pop along and see her. She might even be playing in your local Post Office if you look hard enough, although recently she has been finishing off a Grumpy Old Women West-End residency so perhaps she felt the need to get out more.
Greenwich Comedy Festival beckons on 11th September, but then soon after the long (very long) road ahead begins.
You can see the cream of Eclair (sorry) and her new show in the autumn, beginning with London Millfield Arts on 15th September, Hereford Courtyard (17th), Folkestone (25th), Derby (27th) and many more right through October / November / December and into the New Year, concluding (currently) at the Theatre Royal in Windsor on 20th Feb 2011. Ticket prices will vary but most are around £18.50 plus fees.
Eclair is a veteran of the comedy-circuit (in performance terms) being the first woman to win the Perrier Award in 1995, appeared in theatre productions including "The Killing of Sister George" and been a part of the Grumpy Old Women TV and 'live' shows for the best part of a decade (alongside Linda Robson, Sheila Hancock, Helen Lederer and Maureen Lipman).
