Here come The Drums - New York's post-punk-retro protégés announce Winter 2010 UK/ Ireland tour

The Drums

The Drums have only been around since 2008, yet have already carved out a niche for themselves with their bouncy infectious take on 80s indie-pop. Considering they are from the States, they play the English game pretty well, citing The Smiths, The Wake and Orange Juice as influences. If you know what those three bands sound like, add in some 21st-century jiggery-pokery and you have a band with talent and tunes to boot. Oh, and a Top 20 album in their eponymous debut.

To capitalize on the successes of the album and single "Best Friend", The Drums have announced a comprehensive UK (and Ireland) tour for the end of the year, beginning in London at the HMV Forum on 24th November and continuing to Bristol (26th), Birmingham (27th), Glasgow (29th), Belfast (30th), Dublin (1st December), Newcastle (3rd), Leeds (4th), Nottingham (5th) and home to a few of their influences, Manchester on the 6th.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday and demand will be high. They have a chance to dazzle at the Hyde Park bash with Kings of Leon (June 30th) and the Reading / Leeds Festivals beforehand.
