Gorillaz go bananas with new UK/ Ireland 2010 arena tour for Autumn - tickets and venues just announced

Posted: 13 years ago

Fed up with the same old seaside destinations like Blackpool, Brighton or Bognor? How about planning an escape to "Plastic Beach" with Gorillaz? I thought you'd like that idea - good job too, as Damon Albarn and his, as yet unannounced, big-name musical guests will embark on a five-date arena tour in the autumn. So, if you failed to get down to London's Roundhouse gig last month or can't make their headline spot at the Benicassim Festival, this might be your best bet.

The first date you need to remember is Friday 21st May, the time is 9am and the place is this very website for major clicking-action and a bit of ticket purchasing. Ticket prices TBA (€59.80 for Dublin).

The first big night is at Birmingham's NIA on 10th September followed by Newcastle's Metro on the 11th, Manchester's MEN on the 12th, a pair of London O2 Arena dates on 14th / 15th and a Dublin O2 Arena date on 22nd September . Rest assured, next Friday will be busy with these on sale so make sure you're first in the queue. There will no doubt be plenty of special guests (as per the Roundhouse date) - Mos Def, Bobby Womack and De La Soul being the obvious choices.

Meanwhile, "Superfast Jellyfish" has been chosen as the second single choice from the number 2 album "Plastic Beach" [listen on we7.com via the "Superfast Jellyfish [we7]" link in the sidebar - Ed]and is due for release in June.
