My Passion reward the passion of its fans with headline October 2010 UK tour dates just announced
Goth used to be such a filthy word in the 80s and an unjustifiable excuse for Perry-brained 'casuals' to beat anyone up who liked a bit of black clothing or, at the very least, a spot of nail-varnish. Nowadays, it's still a dirty word but at least the music press give it the occasional 'leg-up' onto the plateau of the public's music consciousness.
My Passion started out their 'live' days at a goth-club in London called "Stay Beautiful" (run by Manics fan and fin-headed journo-critic, Simon Price) back in 2006 when their sound was awash with keyboards. Now they have cranked up the guitars, retained the melodies and pricked up a few critic's ears, as well as earning themselves a Kerrang! Award nomination for Best British Newcomer in 2009. The band has recently played on the magazine's Relentless Tour 2010 and is set to headline its own short tour later this year.
The boys begin their headline jaunt in October at Southampton's Joiners for two dates on the 10th / 11th before zipping up the motorway to Bristol (Academy - 15th), Birmingham (Academy - 16th), Manchester (Roadhouse - 17th), Newcastle (Academy - 20th), Glasgow (King Tut's - 21st), Inverness (Ironworks - 22nd), Liverpool (Academy - 26th), Nottingham (Rock City - 27th) and finally London's Underworld for a gothic Halloween on 31st October.
Tickets go on sale on Friday (14th) at 9am and cost in the region of £8 (plus fees) - don't miss 'em, My Passion are hot-property at the moment (they are also due to support Kill Hannah on their European tour, ash-cloud permitting).
