East London's jewel-in-the-crown, The Troxy cuts its teeth in most styles of entertainment throughout any given year and September is no exception with Americana getting a look-in.

Yes, it's the annual "Campfire Trails" extravaganza coming to Limehouse, a trip of evenings dedicated to high-quality acoustic strum-rock in the form of The Felice Brothers, who play on the opening night on the 15th, Cumbria's excellent Wild Beasts on the 16th and string-band Old Crow Medicine Show on the 17th. Tickets are on sale right now, priced at either £18.50 per night, or the obvious choice of a 3-Day Pass for £47.50 - a saving of around £8 (after adding in the fees).

The Felice Brothers are a five-piece country-rock band that has played oodles of open-air festivals in the States and released several self-produced albums on tiny labels. They eventually got a 'proper' physical release out in 2008, garnered considerable acclaim for this self-titled debut and continued with a further well-received album, "Yonder Is The Clock" in 2009.

Wild Beasts are not really Americana in the truest sense, but they are craftsmen of an intrinsically thoughtful brand of music, shaped by Hayden Thorpe's lively counter-tenor vocalizing. Two critically-adored albums later and this interesting outfit are starting to sell-out venues and gain the discerning public's adoration. Last year's "Two Dancers" is certainly worth a listen.

"Old Crow Medicine Show" is more of a traditional banjo-touting bluegrass and old-time band that weaves folk-legend and wartime tales into its repertoire. They have been performing for well over a decade and released several albums including the acclaimed "Tennessee Pusher" set from 2008.
