Taking some Flack - Roberta returns to the UK in November 2010 to kill you softly with her songs

Posted: 14 years ago

It isn't too often that Roberta Flack flies across the ocean to our shores, but the jazz and soul legend will be doing just that in November. It will be her first visit here for four years and she has opted for non-London locations (which makes a change) [so far! - she is planning a European tour, so more dates to be addded, methinks! - Ed]. Manchester's Lowry is the first stop on the 12th, before heading south to the coast at Brighton's Centre on the 13th. The Manchester tickets cost from £32.50 while the Brighton ones are from £41.50 depending on seat location.

You might know more Roberta Flack songs than you think and since the early 70s and right through the first half of the 80s, she gave Atlantic Records plenty to get excited about. 'Killing Me Softly' (sampled by the Fugees in 1996), 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' (written by Ewan MacColl as a folk song), 'Feel Like Makin' Love' and 'Don't Make Me Wait Too Long', as well as a trio of famous duets with the late Donny Hathaway ('Back Together Again' and 'Where Is The Love') and Peabo Bryson ('Tonight I Celebrate My Love'). Don't pass up this rare opportunity to see this exquisite singer.
