Doves are No Mere Flight of Fancy - 'The Places Between' best-of Spring 2010 tour announced

It's hard to comprehend that Manchester's fine alt-rock trio (and occasionally quartet) Doves have been around under that name since 1998 and even harder to comprehend that they were together as another group, Sub Sub, for 10 years before that. Sounds like a good time to re-visit their back catalogue then.

A new 'Best Of' entitled 'The Places Between' is released on April 5th and the brothers Williams plus Goodwin are coming to a town near (ish) to you soon, a tour of a few less-obvious venues starting in Hull on April 28th and continuing to Leicester (29th), Glasgow (May 1st), Blackburn (2nd), Folkestone (4th), Wolverhampton (5th), London (6th), Liverpool (8th) and finally Bradford (9th). It remains to be seen whether they add in a Manchester gig - they played a cracker there last year. Meanwhile these tickets go on sale from 9am on Friday 19th March.

You can also catch the boys at the Thetford Forest gig on June 12th, as well as stints at the V Festival and Isle of Wight Festival.

One new track from the 'Best Of' has recently been aired on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show and Steve Lamacq's 6Music show - 'Andalucia' has already scored brownie points amongst fans. But aside from the new song and familiar hits such as 'There Goes the Fear' and 'Catch the Sun', it's the extra disc of rarities and B-sides of 'The Places Between' that should delight Doves collectors. A promo-DVD will also be included in the set.
