New York Dolls Legend Turns Superhero with Supergroup - The Batusis announce EP and May 2010 UK Tour
Posted: 5th March 2010
Holy guitarists Batman, we have a supergroup in our midst!! New York Dolls glam-rock legend Sylvain Sylvain, ex-Dead Boys axe-man Cheetah Chrome and Thommy Price and Enzo Penizzotto from The Blackhearts, have all got together to form The Batusis, a rock n roll band packed full of the kind of riffs you would expect from these boys. They have an EP out in April (title TBC) and a seven-date UK tour lined up for May.
First port-of-call is Sheffield on the 4th followed by Liverpool (5th), London (7th), Hatfield (8th), Oxford (10th), Bristol (12th) and finally Birmingham (13th). Tickets will go on sale on Saturday (March 6th) at 9am and will cost £12.50 (London £13.50).
The band has taken its name from the style of dancing featured in the Batman TV series from the 1960s and is a play on the word, 'Watusi'. They might well be old enough to remember the programme but their tunes up on My Space (www.myspace.com/batusis) suggest there is life in the old glam-dogs yet.
