Second Reunion for Sunny Day Real Estate Spawns Debut London Gig - Tickets on Sale Now

Posted: 14 years ago

One of the first bands to indulge in the very practice of 'EMO' as we have come to know it, have reformed for the second time and announced a UK date for later this spring. Sunny Day Real Estate is formed of two members from Foo Fighters past and present, Nate Mandel and William Goldsmith, as well as soloist Jeremy Enigk and guitarist and vocalist Dan Hoerner, yet their music is unique and solid enough to set them apart from the Foos and other Emo pretenders like Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday. Now you can see and hear for yourself where 'emotional hardcore' started by catching them 'live' for the first time in the UK.

The gig is at the Kentish Town HMV Forum on April 22nd and tickets have just gone on sale at £22.50 (plus fees).

Sunny Day Real Estate released four studio albums in their various incarnations and mainly for the legendary hardcore-grunge label, Sub-Pop. 'Diary' was the first one, getting a release in 1994 and this and their self-titled follow-up have recently been re-issued to coincide with the reformation and the continued resurgence in the so-called 'emo' genre. Although they do have plans to record new material, the band are concentrating on getting a few gigs under their belts beforehand with the chance of a new song being aired along the way. The UK one looks to be a one-off at this stage.

They are also due to play the Coachella Festival in California and Soundwave in Australia, truly a world-wide emotional experience back in the running.
