Elvis 75 Competition winners announced!

Posted: 14 years ago

Wow, I think it's fair to say that a fair few of you are Elvis fans! This has been our most subscribed-to competition ever, with just under ten thousand of you wanting some Elvis 75 action - and why not, as it's a pretty stonking disk according to allgigs reviewers Elly Roberts and Simon Godley - both of whom awarded the triple album five stars, with Simon adding:

...seventy five of the purest slices of rock 'n' roll, country, pop, blues, gospel, soul and ballads you could ever possibly imagine, all the way from down at the end of lonely street to the promised land and beyond and all achieved with that truly remarkable voice...

Anyway, I suspect you want to know whether a copy will be wending its way to you over the next few days? Well, if you are V Kavanagh from London, D Forsyth from Kettering, Betty Harris from Kirkcaldy, Patricia Kitching from Penrith or Mary McCormack from Motherwell, then, yes it will!

If you're one of the nine thousand, nine-hundred-odd not in the list, then you may be interested to know that Elvis 75 is out now as both a three disk compilation and a four disk box-set, the four disk version featuring 100 tracks and an 80 page booklet featuring rare photographs as well as a new essay by musical and cultural critic Billy Altman (Rolling Stone, The New Yorker).

The four disk box-set is dubbed 'Elvis 75 - Good Rockin' Tonight' and retails at just under £50 (£19.49 as a download), with the standard three disk version coming-in at just under 12 English pounds.
