Acclaimed and recently-renovated Manchester venue, Band on the Wall, has announced an attractive brace of concerts featuring the talented multi-instrumentalist, Nitin Sawhney.

The Aftershock International series of events, curated by Sawhney, will start on January 23rd with a special club night, followed by other events involving Sawhney and a ferry-load of musicians ending with a concert on Jan 30th. There is also an exclusive talk by Nitin at the venue on Jan 26th, where he will talk about his incredible relationship with music and culture.

Tickets for the talk are £4 whilst the closing mass concert will set you back just £9.60 for Band on the Wall members or £12 otherwise. The opening club night is just £6 for DJ sets from Sawhney, Abraxxxas and Fyzah.

Sawhney has proven to be a bit of a legend - dragging Asian-fusion into the World Music arena (alongside Talvin Singh, it has to be said), he has been nominated for Mercury prizes, EMMAs and MOBOs left, right and centre, most notably for his must-have 'Prophesy' album in 2001. His most recent album, 'London Undersound', explored urban landscapes and music with usual aplomb.

Aftershock is a project close to Nitin's heart - bringing new and fresh musicians from a world stage together for experimental yet satisfying musical fusions delivered live. At Band on the Wall, each musician will record his own webcam progress over the 9 days prior to the big night, where all performers will come together in a massive jam and concert. Reminiscent of the Mahavishnu experiments with Shakti, this is a one-off event in Manchester not to be missed.

Just don't forget to turn up for the big night on the 30th!
