Seattle's premier rock-band, Pearl Jam, have been confirmed as first-night headliners at the 2010 Hard Rock Calling festival in London's Hyde Park. The event begins on Friday 25th June and ends on Sunday 27th June.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday 11th December at 9am priced at £47.50 plus fees.
Pearl Jam have been a primary name within the US (and global, for that matter) rock scene and have sold out several concerts in their 20-year tenure. Initially labelled as Nirvana-clones, Eddie Vedder's band soon became a sure bet for impassioned and intense live shows as well as a cracking debut album ('Ten'). Songs like 'Alive' and 'Even Flow' paved the way for an impressive back catalogue - albums like 'Vs' and 'Yield' showing considerable variety and proof they are not a run-of-the-mill 'rawk' band. 2009 has seen reissues of the debut album (reviewed here) and a new studio set, 'Backspacer'. They don't come to the UK that often - grab a bit of Pearl Jam while it's still hot.
Further headline acts and major names will be announced in the coming weeks - last year's festival featured Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Killers.
Pearl Jam have also confirmed a Belfast date (23rd June) as part of their European Summer 2010 tour - tickets for the UK date also go on sale this Friday.
