Sweet Home Hammersmith - London Date Part of Lynyrd Skynyrd March 2010 UK Tour

Posted: 14 years ago

The legendary Freebird-rockers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, return to the UK for a chunk of their world tour in 2010. The so-called Southern-rock band from Florida are to play 4 dates starting in Birmingham (LG Arena) on March 4th 2010 and continuing on to Cardiff's International Arena on the 5th, London's HMV Apollo in Hammersmith on the 6th before heading to Scotland and Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium on the 9th.

Formed in 1964, their blues-flavoured swamp-rock was the symbol of the Southern-most states of the US and synonymous with good times and psychedelic blues back in the early 70s, when they chalked up a radio hit with "Gimme Three Steps" and subsequent top-selling singles, "Sweet Home Alabama" and the ubiquitous "Freebird". They were huge in the States, less so in the UK but no less-loved.

They have now signed to Metal/Rock giant Roadrunner and recently unleashed a brand new album and download-single. "God And Guns" continues where 2003 album, "Vicious Cycle" left off and if you want to hear where Jovi, Guns n Roses and Aerosmith got their back-bone from then this album is right up your canyon.

Tickets for the tour go on sale on tomorrow, Friday 13th November at 9AM.
