South Bank Invite you to their Award-Winning 'hood for Winter 2009: Into the Hoods

Posted: 14 years ago

This winter, the South Bank hosts the spectacular urban song-and-dance fairytale, "Into The Hoods", previously resident at the Novello Theatre, Aldwych. ZooNation, the young and fresh dance collective, present the story of DJ Spinderella, her 'playa' boyfriend Prince, the 'other woman' MC Rap-on-Zel and other struggling characters living on the Ruff Endz Estate.

Using dance, hip-hop and soul tracks, ZooNation give their all with amazing choreography as seen at the Beijing Olympics and on Britain's Got Talent, telling the story of runaway kids and greedy record company execs. Music comes from Kanye West, Massive Attack, James Brown, Chemical Brothers and Dr Dre amongst many others. There is also plenty of humour in this family show (one of the characters is Jaxx, who lives in the basement of the tower block). Eventually all of the young characters meet 'The Landlord' who sends them out to work for him.

There are references to traditional fairy tales throughout the piece and it comes fully recommended from theatre and music critics alike.

The performances begin on Wednesday 16th Dec and end on Sunday 10th Jan 2010 - Tickets cost £15 up to £27.50 + booking fee.
