Forget trick-or-treating this Halloween, here's treats galore, without any trick at all. What am I talking about you say? Well, only the return of the Brainwash Festival, one of Leeds' musical highlights. The festival is in it's fourth year and will run from 29th October to 1st November with many a great musical treat for you including the return of Jaga Jazzist to the UK for the first time since 2005 as he performs one of only two UK shows on the Thursday (29th) at TJ's Woodhouse. Friday (30th) sees such diverse acts as the great Castrovalva. Chickenhawk, Electric Mud Generator and Bad for Lazarus and Saturday sees Halloween fly in with Pulled Apart By Horses and Hot Club De Paris the highlights of a day that include gigs from Handsome Furs, Invisible Cities and Taint. Finally to round it off on Sunday, Efterklang, Oceansize, Maybeshewill and (my favourites) Grammatics will be at the Leeds University Students Union. There are various other venues scattered throughout the city for the wealth of bands on offer so get checking out the info below, which includes ticket info. With nearly all the shows going for under a tenner (and plenty going for under £5) and the whole festival set up to help raise money for such deserving causes as UNICEF, St.Gemma's Hospice in Leeds and Sheffield's Children's Hospital it seems like a great way to spend a Halloweeny weekend.
