Simpsons' Matt Groening to curate All Tomorrow's Parties in 2010

Posted: 14 years ago

All Tomorrow's Parties' first festival weekend (of three) in 2010 will be hosted by The Simpson's creator Matt Groening.

Next year sees the 10th anniversary of ATP and the cartoonist will be curating the event at Butlins holiday camp in Minehead on 7-9 May, having previously curated the 2003 US festival at Long Beach, California.

The curator essentially selects the line-up for the festival and hangs around getting free stuff and backslaps. Probably. At Long Beach, Groening picked The Shins, Sonic Youth and Modest Mouse, amongst others. May's line-up has not yet been publicised.

It's been quite a month for the creator of American television's first family. Having celebrated twenty years of The Simpsons, Playboy helped mark the occasion by featuring Marge Simpson as cover girl with a special edition pull-out. Groening's creation has eclipsed cartoon totty rival Jessica Rabbit by being the first animated character to appear in the legendary men's mag. Ay carumba.
