BBC Electric Proms 09 to feature Dizzee Rascal, Doves and Florence and the Machine
Posted: 17th September 2009
It's time to get electrified again as the BBC electric proms roll into London's Roundhouse for a great mix of modern chart acts, great veterans and some of the worlds finest orchestras.
As usual the challenge for the acts is to redefine their own music or create new arrangements with the use of their supporting orchestras. The result is a great mix of traditional classical movements with a great pop twist and has proven to be extremely popular since its inception in 2006 with James Brown, Oasis, Paul McCartney, Goldfrapp and The Streets among acts to have graced the stage.
Running from 21st-24th October, this year the Electric Proms will dedicate a day to each of their four popular radio stations (Radio1, Radio2, 1xtra and 6music) with Dizzee Rascal, Doves, Florence and the Machine & Smokey Robinson among the confirmed acts playing with the Heritage Orchestra, The London Bulgarian Choir and of course the BBC Concert Orchestra weaving everything together beautifully. Watch this space for further line-up announcements.
If you want to be a part of what should be an exceptional few days of musical diversity then head along to www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/ for tickets, and enjoy!
Tickets for the first three Electric Proms dates (Dizzee, Doves and Smokey) have now all sold-out.
