Placebo have today announced that they will be the headlining act for the 14th instalment of this year's 31 date July iTunes festival.

The band will play 14th July, with the support act(s) yet to be announced, joining the likes of Fighstar (2nd July), Jack Peñate (3rd July), Snow Patrol (5th July), Franz Ferinand (6th July), Paolo Nutini (10th July) for this stonking free festival. The trio released their latest album - Battle for the Sun - earlier this month, which headed straight into the top ten in the UK and hit the top spot in Germany (a first for the band), France and seven other countries. Just prior to the release of the album, the band announced details of a European tour, including seven UK/ Ireland dates starting on 8th December at the Birmingham LG Arena, culminating with two dates at Dublin's Olympia Theatre on 15th and 16th December. Tickets for their UK dates start from £25 + booking (€44.20 + booking for the Dublin dates) and are available now.
