Todd Rundgren for 'A Wizard, a True Star' UK debut in 2010

Posted: 14 years ago

Music fans: mark these dates in your diaries: 6th February 2010 and 27th May 2009. The first is the date when Todd Rundgren is over in the UK to perform to perform 1973 album 'A Wizard, a True Star' in its entirety. The second date is when tickets go on sale.

The influential American musician and producer has produced records for Halfnelson (later Sparks), New York Dolls, Hall & Oates, Patti Smith, The Tubes, XTC, Meat Loaf, Cheap Trick and the Psychedelic furs, to name a few, as well as recording a fair few critically acclaimed albums himself.

'A Wizard, a True Star' was Todd's fourth album, recorded in 1972/ 73 and released in 1973, produced by Todd himself. The prog-rock album featured the great-and-good of the rock/ jazz world, including Michael Brecker, David Sanborn and Rick Derringer, with Todd on songwriting, vocal and guitar duty.

Todd also teamed-up again with New York Dolls for 'Cause I Sez So' released earlier this month - which was the second time the band had worked together - the first being on their eponymous debut album.

Tickets for 'A Wizard, a True Star' at the Hammersmith Apollo on 6th February 2010 go on sale on Wednesday 27th May at 9AM, starting at £32 + booking fee.
