Following the recent announcement of an epic North American tour, punksters Green Day have now announced that they will continue their journey throughout the UK and Ireland. The forthcoming dates are scheduled for October when the band will play a series of ten shows.

The gig announcement comes ahead of Green Day's next album release, '21st

Century Breakdown' which is due to hit shelves on 15th May. The band has been working on the eagerly-anticipated album since early 2006, of which the first single 'Know Your Enemy' is out now. It's rumoured to follow a similar political theme to their last studio release, 'American Idiot'.

Starting in Glasgow on 19th October, Green Day will appear at venues including the SECC, Belfast's Odyssey Arena, two dates at the London O2 Arena, and will play their penultimate and final night at Manchester's MEN Arena on 30/31 October.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (1st May) at 10am.
